Math Crossword is a number puzzle game. It has no accounts, no sign-up and no passwords, and it never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location.
This policy describes exactly what the app does collect, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- Your puzzle progress stays on your device.
- If you use the leaderboards, your solve times, a display name you choose, and a random device identifier are stored so rankings can be worked out.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects data of its own. In some regions you are asked for consent first, and you can change that choice at any time in Settings.
- There is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app.
What is stored on your device only
The following never leaves your phone. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
- Which levels you have finished, and your best time for each difficulty.
- Your daily-puzzle streak, streak freezes, and which days you have solved.
- A puzzle you are part way through, so you can carry on later.
- Your reminder settings and chosen reminder time.
- Your appearance choice (system, light or dark).
- Counters that decide how often an ad is shown.
Reminders are scheduled by your device itself. The app has no push-notification service and holds no notification token.
What is sent to our server
The app uses Google Firebase. When you first open it, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous account: a random identifier for the installation. It is not linked to a Google account, an email address or your identity, and we cannot use it to contact you.
If you finish a puzzle while online, the following is written to Cloud Firestore:

About the display name
The app generates a name for you, such as Solver 4218. You can
change it in the league screen. Whatever you set is shown to other players in
your league, so please do not put your real name, email address or anything
else you would not want to be public into that field.
Advertising
The app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. Google is an independent controller of the data it collects. According to Google's own disclosure, its Mobile Ads SDK may collect:
- your device's IP address, which can indicate your approximate area;
- an advertising identifier (the Android advertising ID, or on iOS the Advertising Identifier if you allow tracking);
- interactions with ads and with the app, such as launches and taps;
- diagnostic information about how the app and the SDK are performing.
Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can read what the AdMob SDK collects at Google's data disclosure page.
Your choices about ads
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. Open Settings → Privacy options in the app to change that choice at any time.
- On iOS the app asks whether it may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, no Advertising Identifier is shared. You can change this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.
Declining any of this does not restrict the game. Every puzzle, level and feature works the same either way; you will simply see less relevant ads.
Children
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information — most plausibly by typing it into the league display name — contact us and we will remove it.
How long data is kept, and how to delete it
Leaderboard entries are kept so that historical rankings remain meaningful. Because the app has no accounts, there is no self-service delete button: we cannot show you a "delete my data" screen without first being able to prove who you are, which would mean collecting more about you, not less.
To have your leaderboard data removed, email support@msetuapps.com and say so. Your anonymous identifier is shown in the app under Settings → About, and including it lets us find and delete exactly your records. We will action the request within 30 days.
Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device immediately. Reinstalling creates a new anonymous identifier and starts over.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to processing, or to complain to a data protection authority. Because the data we hold is limited to the items listed above and is tied to an anonymous identifier, please include that identifier when you get in touch so we can locate it.
Where data is processed
Data is stored using Google Cloud Firestore in the asia-south1
region (Mumbai, India), and may be transferred to and processed in other
countries where Google operates.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and the current version is always the one published here.
